The difference between cold forging and hot forging flange

The forging process of flange can be divided into hot forging and cold forging. The differences are as follows:

In the hot forging of flange, the large flange with complex shape can be forged due to the small deformation energy and deformation resistance. In order to obtain the flange with high dimensional accuracy, hot forging can be used in the temperature range of 900-1000 ℃. In addition, pay attention to improve the working environment of hot forging. The life of forging die is shorter than that of forging in other temperature regions, but it has a large degree of freedom and low cost. The purpose of hot forging flange is mainly to reduce the deformation resistance of metal, so as to reduce the forging pressure required for the deformation of broken materials and greatly reduce the tonnage of forging equipment; change the as cast structure of the steel ingot used for flange, after recrystallization in the process of hot forging, the coarse as cast structure becomes the new structure of fine grains, reduce the defects of as cast structure and improve the mechanical properties of steel;

When cold forging of flange is done at low temperature, the size of flange changes little. When forged below 700 ℃, there is less oxide scale and no decarburization on the surface. Therefore, as long as the deformation can be within the forming energy range, the cold forging can easily get good dimensional accuracy and surface finish. As long as the temperature and lubrication cooling are well controlled, the warm forging under 700 ℃ can also obtain good precision. Cold forging, cold extrusion, cold heading and other plastic processing collectively. Cold forging is a kind of forming process under the recrystallization temperature of materials, and it is a forging process under the recovery temperature. In production, forging without heating the blank is called cold forging. Cold forging materials are mostly aluminum and some alloys, copper and some alloys, low carbon steel, medium carbon steel and low alloy structural steel with small deformation resistance and good plasticity at room temperature. Cold forging has good surface quality and high dimensional accuracy, which can replace some machining. Cold forging can strengthen the metal, improve the strength of the flange and reduce the production cost.
