Before installing the insulated joint, we need to inspect the whole installation environment, and then determine the specific installation location. The installation position of the insulation joint is very important. If the location is not reasonable, not only the electric isolation and cathodic protection of the pipeline cannot be realized, but also the safe operation of the pipeline may be affected. Insulated joints shall be set at the following positions of buried pipelines:
- Boundary between pipeline and other facilities.
- The boundary between cathodic protection and non cathodic protection.
- The connection between the pipeline with anti-corrosion coating and the bare pipeline.
- Valve with grounding
- When there is grounding for large-scale crossing section, both sides of the crossing section.

Visual inspection shall be carried out for the appearance of insulated joint first, the appearance shall be flat and beautiful, and the inner side of end groove and forging body shall be flush with the inner side of connected pipeline.
