What’s Stellite?

I received an inquiry from a customer in Spain as follows,”FLANGE BLIND, DN 6IN, ASME B16.5, 150LBS ASTM A105N RF, INTERNAL COATED WITH STELLITE”. About STELLITE, let’s learn about it.

Stellite alloy is a kind of hard alloy that can resist various types of wear and corrosion as well as high temperature oxidation. In China, it is translated into Stellite alloy, which is usually called cobalt-based alloy.Stellite alloys are alloys with cobalt as the main component, and contain significant amounts of nickel, chromium, tungsten, and small amounts of molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, titanium, lanthanum and occasionally iron.

According to the use of classification, Stellite alloy can be divided into Stellite wear resistant alloy, Stellite high temperature resistant alloy and Stellite wear resistance and aqueous solution corrosion alloy.General working conditions, in fact, are both wear resistance and high temperature resistance or wear resistance and corrosion resistance, some working conditions may also require high temperature resistance and wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and the more complex working conditions, the more can reflect the advantages of Stellite alloy.

Stellite

General cobalt-based superalloys lack a uniform strengthening phase. Although the strength at medium temperature is low (only 50-75% of that of nickel-based alloys), they have high strength, good thermal fatigue resistance, thermal corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance at higher than 980℃, and good weldability. The thermal stability of carbide in Stellite alloy is good. When the temperature rises, the growth rate of the carbide is slower than that of the γ phase in the nickel-based alloy, and the temperature at which the carbide is dissolved back into the matrix is higher (up to 1100℃). Therefore, the strength of Stellite alloy generally decreases slowly when the temperature rises.

Stellite alloys have good thermal corrosion resistance too.

Because we are professional and we can provide good service and competitive price to customers, customers will choose us as the supplier. If you need it, please contact me and let me help you.I am looking forward to your inquiry.
