A steel pipe bend looks like a steel elbow with different bending radius. The most regular pipe bends are 30 degree, 45 degree and 90 degree, the popular bending radius are 3D, 5D, 7D, 10D, here the “D” means the nominal diameter of this bend. 90 degree pipe bend 3D is the most commonly used.

We supplied ASME B16.9 ASTM A403 WP316L stainless steel 90° pipe bend 3D to one of our Europe customers recently. Their requirements are really strict. Commonly the thickness is guaranteed only for both ends. But customer request the thickness of extrados should be guaranteed. It will cost much in this case because we need prepare much thicker material to reach their thickness requirement. And then reduce the thickness of both ends.

They also request pickling for the material. It’s quite difficult because the volume of bend is large, few pickling bath can accommodate it. But we overcome the difficulty and make it.

Both ends of the bends are beveled, they want the ends can be well protected, so they ask us to protect them with plastic caps. And we also sheath plastic film for each bend.
