The causes and treatment of pore during submerged arc welding of pipeline

When the pipeline is welded by submerged arc welding, pores will sometimes appear in the welding site, which will affect the welding quality of the pipeline. Next, we will introduce the causes of this phenomenon and its treatment.

The reasons for pores produced by welding:

(1) The welding site has rust, grease, oxide film and other impurities.

(2) Flux is wet.

(3) Flux is contaminated.

(4) The welding speed is too fast.

(5) Insufficient flux height.

(6) the flux height is too large, so that the gas is not easy to escape.

(7) the welding stick is stained with oil or rust.

The operation of submerged arc welding

The corresponding treatment methods:

(1) The welding site shall be ground or burned before welding, and then the surface impurities shall be removed with a steel wire brush.

(2) Flux shall be kept dry.

(3) Flux should be properly stored, and the welding site and its vicinity should be cleaned to avoid contamination of flux by debris.

(4) Appropriately reduce the welding speed during welding.

(5) Moderately increase the flux outlet.

(6) Moderately lower the flux outlet to maintain a height of 30mm to 40mm during automatic welding.

(7) Replace with a clean welding wire.
